I get asked all of the time about my skincare routine. So, I thought I would share all of the details with you on how I got to where I am now with my skincare and what works for me.
I’m seriously so excited to share with you my skincare journey and my obsession with natural healing.
I’ve always been mindful of the products I use on my skin, understanding their significant impact on my overall health.
This consciousness heightened after my daughter was diagnosed with autism, which prompted me to switch to natural and chemical-free skincare products.
Before we dive into the details, I wanted to let you know that you can also listen to my podcast episode “My Skincare Journey: From Obsession to Natural Healing” if you would rather listen! It’s perfect to listen to while getting ready, even if you’re driving a car.
You can listen below!
My Skincare Passion
I’m not an expert in skincare, but I’m super passionate about sharing my knowledge and experiences with people. It brings me so much joy to share what works for me in hopes of helping someone else.
I receive compliments on my skin quite a bit and always get asked about my skincare secrets. I admit to having the occasional breakout, but for the most part, I have it under control with the knowledge I’ve equipped myself with throughout the years.

Skincare Tools
Let’s first talk about the skin care tools I use.
It’s like, we always focus on creams and serums, right? But let me tell you, the real game changers are the gadgets and extras you use.
Ice Roller
The first recommendation is something I use every single morning: an ice roller.
Here are some of the benefits of using an ice roller daily:
- Reduce Puffiness: Ice rollers are fantastic for decreasing puffiness, especially around the under-eye area, giving a more refreshed and awake appearance.
- Soothe Skin: They help calm the skin, particularly after skincare treatments, or soothe irritation and redness, providing a gentle and cooling sensation.
- Enhance Blood Circulation: Using an ice roller stimulates blood circulation in the face, which can lead to brighter, more vibrant skin and a healthy glow.
- Tighten Pores: Regular use of an ice roller can help tighten and shrink the appearance of large pores, contributing to a smoother and more even skin texture.
Gua Shua
The next thing I use is a gua shua tool. I use mine for facial massages and lymphatic drainage. If you’re interested in learning the technique of using the gouache tool, check out my Instagram for a tutorial video.
NuFace
One of my favorite tools is the NuFace microcurrent device. This microcurrent device helps tone the muscles in the face. I describe it as a workout for your face.
It consists of two silver balls on a white device that you move slowly across your face to strengthen and tighten your muscles. Always do your own research before trying any skincare products or tools.
Here are the benefits of using a NuFace:
- Facial Muscle Toning: The NuFace microcurrent device is known for its ability to tone facial muscles, akin to a workout for your face, leading to a more sculpted and defined appearance.
- Strengthening and Tightening: By moving its two silver balls across the face, the device works to strengthen and tighten facial muscles, contributing to a firmer and more youthful look.
- Anti-Aging Effects: Regular use of the NuFace can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, offering noticeable anti-aging benefits.
- Improved Facial Contours: The device helps in enhancing facial contours, giving a more lifted look and potentially diminishing sagging over time.
It’s a bit pricey, so I suggest starting with cheaper options like the ice roller.
Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy is great for your whole body, but I especially love it for the face!
I personally use the red light mask by Dr. Dennis Gross, which I believe helps with wrinkles, acne, and skin damage.
Red light therapy penetrates deep into the skin layers and is used by doctors for healing purposes. I recommend using the mask for three minutes before bed.
Here are the top reasons to do red light therapy:
- Combats Wrinkles and Fine Lines: Red light therapy is effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, promoting a smoother, more youthful complexion.
- Treats Acne: It helps in managing acne by reducing inflammation and working on the skin’s sebum production, leading to clearer skin over time.
- Aids in Skin Healing: The deep penetration of red light into skin layers aids in healing and rejuvenating the skin, making it beneficial for repairing skin damage.
- Convenient and Non-Invasive: Using a red light mask, like the one by Dr. Dennis Gross, is a convenient, non-invasive treatment that can be easily incorporated into a nightly skincare routine, often recommended for just a few minutes before bed.
The Importance of Exercise and Hydration
Alright, let’s switch gears and talk about two game changers in skincare that go beyond the gadgets: exercise and staying hydrated.
Trust me, they’re big deals!
When it comes to keeping your skin looking fabulous, don’t forget the power of a good workout and keep your water bottle handy.
Getting a good workout in, or just going for a brisk walk, does wonders for your skin. It’s not just about burning calories; it’s about giving your skin a natural boost.
And hydration? It’s like the secret sauce for glowing skin. I aim for 80 to 100 ounces of water daily.
I personally use a big gallon water jug to help remind me of how much I’ve had each day. My go-to is a chic stainless steel hydro jug. Sometimes, I’ll pop in some lemon slices for that extra detox kick.
Here’s why exercise and hydration are key to good skin:
- Tightens and Tskin’skin: Regular exercise helps in firming up your skin, giving you that toned and healthy look.
- Detoxification: Sweating it out isn’t just great for your fists; it also helps detoxify your skin, flushing out toxins.
- Boosts Hydration Levels: Drinking plenty of water ensures your skin stays hydrated, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and keep your skin supple.
- Enhances Skin Glow: Hydration, combined with exercise, enhances the natural glow of your skin, making it look more vibrant and healthy.”
Supplements for Skincare
To go along with hydration, make sure you are getting electrolytes in.
Electrolytes are essential for hydration, and I recommend a pink packet supplement called Pique. It’s my daily go-to for keeping up my electrolytes.
I also take collagen daily as a skincare supplement. It’s such a game-changer!
Here are a couple of key benefits of collagen for the skin:
- Enhances Elasticity and Firmness: Collagen helps maintain skin’s elasticity, reducing sagging and smoothing out wrinkles.
- Improves Hydration: It locks in moisture, leading to plumper, more hydrated skin, which is especially beneficial for dry types.
- Aids Skin Healing: Collagen aids in skin cell repair and renewal, helping heal scars and marks.
- Reduces Aging Signs: Regular use can diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a younger look.
- Strengthens Skin Barrier: It fortifies the skin’s barrier, offering protection against environmental stressors.
My Skincare Products
Last but certainly not least are the skincare products I use on my face.
I’ve been using Herbal Face, a natural and organic product, for over six months now, and I’m OBSESSED. Its healing properties have transformed my skin. I encourage you to do your own research before purchasing any products, but, in my experience, it’s transformed my skincare game.
I use a spot treatment for areas with deeper wrinkles, such as under the eyes and forehead. The serum, which I apply all over my face and neck, has a slight tint and acts as a light foundation. It also provides SPF protection, which is also KEY when it comes to skincare.
I also use a vitamin C serum and hyaluronic acid. I love the scent and benefits of the vitamin C serum.
For special occasions, I use a natural makeup brand called Eylea. Lastly, I use a growth treatment for eyelashes and eyebrows that I found on Amazon.
Oh, and guess what… I scored a 20% off promo code for you, too! 😍
