How to Handle Change and Problems

I will never forget the moment when I found out my daughter Lilly was diagnosed with autism. It felt like someone punched me in the gut. Even though I had been seeing signs and deep down I knew something was off, in the moment I really felt so fearful, sad, sick, and uncertain.

On top of me getting this news the doctor looked me in the eyes when I asked him what I could do for her because I was willing to do whatever it took and he said “there is nothing you can do and your daughter will probably never talk again”

3 years prior to this happening, I had started my own business in direct sales, and the company I partner with has ALWAYS been (and still is) huge on personal growth. I had been so deep on working on myself by reading books, doing affirmations, taking courses, building my confidence, etc, that my mindset was in an extremely great place, thankfully. 

​I allowed myself to live in that space of fear and sadness for a few days. Then I told myself I needed to focus on the SOLUTION instead of sitting in this negative head space that wasn’t serving me and for sure was not serving my daughter Lilly. I made a DECISION at that moment with absolute CERTAINTY to start researching ways to help Lilly in any way I could, and I took MASSIVE ACTION! 

She is now 11 years old, and that little girl says many words and many sentences. The sound of her voice MELTS my heart! She is BRIGHTEST light to everyone around her. ​​

​​So you see… we all experience problems in life and also in our business. How you handle changes, issues, and problems that seem really scary in the moment can make the BIGGEST impact on the outcome that you get.

SIDE NOTE: I must say, though, that FINALLY getting the answers and diagnosis was a blessing.


Because the sooner I could accept this fact and then start focusing my energy on the solution. I could create a game plan and start helping her instead of living in the unknown.

Same with any problem or change that comes your way in life.​Without the existence of problems, there is no opportunity for growth, so you have to refrain from thinking that you want problems in your life because that is your opportunity to grow and evolve. 

​✅ ENERGY AND FOCUS need to be on the solution, not the problem 
​✅ make a decision and be certain!
​✅ take action on the solution 
​✅ Stop blaming! If you start trying to figure out whose fault it is, what happens is that’s where your focus goes instead of on the solution ​
✅ Journal: gain clarity. Is this really a problem that is going to matter in 5 years? Getting your thoughts out on paper will help you see the problem realistically and develop the plan, and then you can take massive action. ​

There are 6 human needs that Tony Robbins trains on:​

1. Certainty: assurance you can avoid pain and gain pleasure
2. Uncertainty/Variety: the need for the unknown, change, and new stimuli
3. Significance: feeling unique, important, special, or needed
4. Connection/Love: a strong feeling of closeness or union with someone or something
5. Growth: an expansion of capacity, capability or understanding
6. Contribution: a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to and supporting others​

If you have stress, it’s more than likely because one of these needs could be in jeopardy, BUT if you work on your mindset, a plan, and the solution, you can change all of that fear of change or problems. Moving your body and getting into what I call “the zone” or peak state. ​

​​The worst thing we can do is react based on our emotions or in a scarcity mindset. ​The last thing I’ll share is that problems are an indicator that you are truly on the path to progress! Just like when you start having haters or trolls, it probably means you are becoming more successful. 😂😂 sad but true. ​
