Five Reasons Why Exercise is Important

Okay, let’s get real for a moment—exercise and I have a love-hate relationship. There are days I’d rather binge-watch my favorite shows on Netflix than press play on my workouts.

But, without fail, I still lace up and get it done. Why? Because the benefits from exercise are just too good to pass up. It’s not only about toning up or dropping pounds; exercise seeps into every corner of your life, leaving a trail of positivity in its wake.

Below, I’ll share my top five reasons exercise is important and a non-negotiable in my daily routine.

Boosts Physical Health

First, let’s delve further into why exercise is so important for your physical well-being.

Exercise is a magic elixir for fending off those icky chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.

For example, after my friend started incorporating brisk walks into her daily routine, her doctor was thrilled to see her blood pressure and cholesterol levels take a nosedive.

So, consider a regular workout on your body’s premium insurance policy. The best part? Your monthly premium isn’t paid in dollars; it’s sweat equity and time well spent.

Elevates Your Mood

Okay, mood elevation is where it’s at! If you’ve ever felt that post-workout euphoria, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Those benefits of exercise on mental health are nothing short of transformative.

I’ve had days when I felt off or crabby but came out of a lifting session like a ray of human sunshine, lol. That’s endorphins doing their thing, acting like your brain’s personal DJ, lifting the mood, and kicking stress out of the party.

Empowers You

Let’s keep the ball rolling with empowerment, another huge reason exercise is important.

Say you start barely lifting 5-pound weights and progress to a confident 20-pound dumbbell curl after a few months. You better believe that physical progress translates into an “I’ve got this” attitude in other parts of your life.

Once you start pushing yourself, tasks that seemed impossible suddenly start to feel like a piece of cake—or, shall we say, a piece of protein bar? Don’t just me for that joke, okay?

Sharpens Your Mind

Returning to the realm of cognitive gains, let’s explore more about the benefits of exercise on mental health.

When you exercise, you’re not just building muscles; you’re literally working out your brain.

One personal example: When I first became a BODi Partner and started regularly working out, I also started noticing that my focus during work skyrocketed after my workouts.

Forget brain fog; this is your brain on endorphins, glowing and buzzing with sharper focus, better memory retention, and fortified mental stamina.

Creates Routine and Discipline

Last but not least, the importance of exercise goes beyond the physical and mental—it shapes your life through routine and discipline.

Once I committed to an exercise schedule, a domino effect of productivity and order cascaded into my life. My meals became more structured, and even my sleep schedule became consistent. Talk about a ripple effect, right?

Committing to exercise is like committing to a systematically organized life, almost as if Marie Kondo took a pass through your daily routine.

Final Thoughts – Reasons Why Exercise is So Important

So there you have it, my friends—a comprehensive look at five compelling reasons exercise is important, each backed up with real-life examples to inspire your journey.

The benefits of exercise touch every facet of your life, from bolstering physical health to the wonders it works on your mental well-being.

Think about it: the benefits of exercise on mental health are like the cherry, whipped cream, and sprinkles on top of an already tasty sundae of life benefits.

If you’re still teetering on the edge, unsure about diving into a committed workout routine, let me offer this final nugget of wisdom: Exercising is the most sincere love letter you can write to yourself. It’s an ode to your body’s strength and mind’s resilience.

And the beauty of this commitment is that it’s a gift that keeps giving. The more you invest in this physical and mental self-care ritual, the more abundant the returns—think lower health risks, a more elevated mood, and a downright invincible feeling of empowerment.

So, let’s make a pact to honor this life-changing practice. Here’s wishing you an overflow of health, boundless happiness, and a steady stream of glorious endorphins that make everything better.

It’s time to lace up and hit the gym or unroll that yoga mat—because you are worth every drop of sweat and every ounce of effort.
