My “Better Than GlamGlow” Natural Face Mask

I’ve said it for years now that this homemade, all-natural face mask I’ve been using is actually better than my old go-to, GlamGlow.

For the longest time, GlamGlow was one of the last non-natural skincare products I held onto because it worked wonders for my acne-prone skin.

But then… I stumbled across something even better while experimenting with Bentonite Clay, and I just have to share it with you!

I have shared on my social channels in the past, but it’s been so long, and honestly, it’s still as effective. Totally worth making a permanent spot right here on my site.

Why Bentonite Clay?

As many of you know, my daughter Lilly was diagnosed with autism at 15 months old, and since then, we’ve been on a journey toward natural healing and detoxing.

Way back when she was just 15 months, we switched to all-organic foods, ditched chemicals in our cleaning products and soaps, and embraced homeopathic remedies.

One of the things we do regularly for Lilly to this day are Bentonite Clay detox baths, recommended by her homeopathic doctor to help with detoxification.

What started as a way to help Lilly detox turned into a family routine—both Lane and I began using Bentonite Clay baths, and later on, Hudson, too.

One day, while soaking in the tub, I got some of the clay on my face and noticed how it hardened like a face mask. This led me down a rabbit hole of research, and sure enough, Bentonite Clay is widely used in natural face masks for its detoxifying properties.

I played around with different recipes until I found the perfect one, and let me tell you—it’s a game-changer for my skin!

The Benefits of Bentonite Clay

Wondering why Bentonite Clay is such a game-changer for your skin? Here are just a few of the amazing benefits it brings:

  • Detoxifies the Skin: Bentonite Clay pulls out toxins, heavy metals, and impurities, leaving your skin clearer and healthier.
  • Balances Oily Skin: It absorbs excess oil and helps balance out sebum production, making it perfect for those with oily or acne-prone skin.
  • Unclogs Pores: By drawing out dirt and impurities, Bentonite Clay helps to reduce blackheads and minimize the appearance of pores.
  • Fights Acne: Its antibacterial properties make it effective in fighting acne and reducing inflammation caused by breakouts.
  • Soothes Irritated Skin: Bentonite Clay is known for its calming properties, making it great for reducing redness, irritation, and inflammation.
  • Natural Exfoliant: It gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells and promoting a smoother, more radiant complexion.
  • Promotes Skin Healing: The minerals in Bentonite Clay (like calcium, magnesium, and silica) aid in skin repair and regeneration.
  • Improves Skin Tone: Regular use of Bentonite Clay can help brighten and even out your skin tone, leaving you with a healthy glow.

The Key to a Good Bentonite Clay Mask

Before I dive into the recipe, I want to stress how important it is to get high-quality Bentonite Clay.

The quality of the clay really does make a difference. I get mine from The Holistic Horse (yes, they sell stuff for humans, too!). Lilly’s doctor highly recommended this source because not all clays are created equal, and we want to use the best possible clay for detoxing our family. And of course, I want you all to use the best as well!

Bentonite Clay Detox Bath (For the Full Detox Experience)

If you want to go beyond the face mask and try the Bentonite detox baths we use, here’s how:

  • Fill your tub with hot water.
  • Add 1/2 cup of Bentonite Clay.
  • Keep the water moving (you can use your hands or legs to stir it up).
  • Soak for 15 minutes.
  • Do this 3x per week, but no more than that.

It’s such a simple routine, but it works wonders for detoxing, and it’s gentle enough to use for the whole family.

Bentonite Clay Face Mask Recipe

Alright, now let’s talk about this amazing face mask that’s better than GlamGlow (yes, I said it!).

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons Bentonite Clay
  • A few drops of Lemon Essential Oil (or you can use lemon juice)
  • Distilled water (enough to form a paste)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the clay, lemon essential oil (or lemon juice), and distilled water until you get a smooth paste.
  2. Apply it evenly to your face and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Rinse it off with warm water and pat your skin dry.

I recommend using this mask 2x per week for 2-3 weeks to see noticeable results. It’s great for drawing out impurities, helping with acne, and giving your skin that fresh, glowy look.

Why I Love This Mask

This mask is simple, natural, and seriously effective.

Bentonite Clay is known for its detoxifying properties—it literally pulls toxins from your skin and helps clear out impurities. Combined with lemon juice (or essential oil) for a brightening effect, it’s become my go-to for keeping my skin clear and healthy.

Plus, it’s totally free of harsh chemicals and works great for sensitive, acne-prone skin like mine.

Give It a Try!

I’d love for you all to give this natural face mask a try. Use it a couple of times a week for 2-3 weeks, and then come back and let me know how it worked for you!
